About MyWiFiQR
A small, static, honest QR code tool
What this is
MyWiFiQR is a free tool that makes static QR codes — codes that carry their content inside themselves and have nothing behind them. There is no account to create, no code to save, no dashboard, and no subscription. You type what you want the code to say, and a QR code appears.
It exists because the alternative was worse. Most QR generators ask you to sign up, store your codes on their servers, and show you a dashboard you did not ask for. None of that is necessary to draw a square pattern of black and white modules. So this site does the one thing the job requires and stops there.
What it deliberately cannot do
Some capabilities are missing on purpose, and it is worth being clear about which:
- It cannot redirect. Once a code is printed, the destination is fixed. If the link behind it has to change, you need a new code and a reprint — unless you printed a code pointing at a short link you control.
- It cannot count scans. There is no server in the path between a scanner and your destination, so nobody — including us — can tell when or where your codes were scanned. The only thing counted anywhere on this site is the visit count of these pages.
- It cannot expire a code. There is no mechanism to switch a code off later, because there is no switch. If you need code revocation, that is a feature of dynamic code services, not of static ones.
- It does not store anything. No saved codes, no history, no favourites. When you close the tab, what you typed is gone. If you want to keep a code, download it.
Each of those limitations has a matching page on this site — static vs dynamic covers the trade-off in full, and is a QR code generator safe explains why the absence of a backend is the security property rather than a missing feature.
How it is built
The site is a set of static HTML pages. The QR encoder is a small open-source library that runs in your browser; the styling, the SVG output, the PNG export, and the page layouts are our own work. There is no backend, no API, and no third-party script that handles what you type.
Every example code shown on these pages — the pink one, the black-background one, the WiFi sample — was encoded by the same code that runs the generator, at build time. They are real, scannable codes, not decorative patterns.
How it makes money
Advertising, eventually. It is not activated yet, and the privacy page records that state explicitly so you can check whether it has changed. There is no affiliate link on the tool pages and no paid placement anywhere on this site.
Corrections
If something here is wrong — a fact about how codes scan, a size recommendation that does not hold up, a broken link on one of these pages — the contact details below are the right place to say so. Corrections get made.
